EVEN IN FLORIDA WE NEED TO PREP YOUR POND FOR WINTER.

FEEDING

As the temperatures begin to dip, start feeding your pond fish less, be sure you are feeding a well balanced wheat germ based Koi Pellet.   In lower temperatures the fishes' metabolism and the pond's ammonia-reducing biological activities are diminished.

POND PREP

This is the time to clean out your pond while the fish are still active.  Scoop up fall leaves from the surface, do not let them sink and add to the debris on the bottom of the pond.  Trim up and clean up all pond plants.  During a freeze be sure to cover marginal bog plants.  As the growth of our plants slow down be sure that dying leaves are not left in the pond to decay as this causes ammonia build up.

Pond Heaters are not generally needed in the Marion Country area.  Koi and other pond fish will just go deeper into the pond and become less active.

Remember we are always available to answer your questions and help you with your pond.  Come in and see our Koi and other pond fish.
